Gabriel Williams - Composer
Gabriel Williams, emerging British composer, draws inspiration from a diverse array of influences. His composition weaves the intricate threads of micro-polyphony from high modernism with the rugged heterophonic singing styles of the Anglo-sphere into an expressive musical tapestry. Throughout their musical journey, the evocative power of melody and the human voice has remained a central pillar in their work.
Gabriel’s concert work has been heard in places such as Wigmore Hall and St. Martin-in-the-Fields; winning him first place in several international composition competitions, most notably the Bruno Maderna Competition and The KLK New Music: Musica Per Archi Competition. In addition to their concert work, Gabriel has dedicated their musical efforts to visual arts, composing the score to the award-winning independent film Once Upon A Time in Bolivia, and having their installation work featured in the Saatchi Gallery.
Gabriel is an alumnus of the Sibelius Academy, University of York and Royal Academy of Music. He currently works with The Max Trust promoting the life and music of Peter Maxwell Davies.
